The Founders

My love for antiques and design took root early, shaped quietly by the homes I grew up in—rooms filled with color, art, and antiques that were not simply décor, but reflections of their time and purpose.

My mother, an artist devoted to floral design and gardening, taught me to see the world through palettes and patterns; my maternal grandmother, a color consultant with a lifelong passion for French and Italian antiques, revealed the more formidable side of the trade: auction houses, negotiation, and the pursuit of authenticity. Their influence, paired with years spent studying antiques, restoration, and nineteenth-century England, deepened my appreciation for the character of well-made things—and for how thoughtful design can bring a home to life.

Where my mother’s side was rooted in art and interiors, my father’s family was bound to the sea—a world of books, tools, and traditions. From them I learned the value of doing things by hand and doing them well, of patience, and of knowledge passed carefully from one generation to the next. Summers in Maine, where our family cottage has stood for five generations, deepened that sense of continuity.

The coastal villages and small fishing communities there—places where work, weather, and rhythm are inseparable—inspired me to pursue a career in Fisheries Resource Management, where I developed a lifelong fascination with how people live in harmony with their environment. Years working in coastal communities around the world in my 20's, taught me to see heritage not as history preserved, but as knowledge sustained—something carried forward through practice, purpose, and care.

While I’m the dreamer behind Lineage, my husband Nate is the steady hand that keeps it grounded.

With a background in economics and computer science, he manages everything from finances to security—and all the inevitable technical frustrations in between. He’s also the one who does a lot of the the heavy lifting, both literally and figuratively. At fairs, he’s indispensable: the one who remembers the umbrella, the coins for the loo, and every other logistical detail I'm prone to forget. His fascination with history—particularly nineteenth- and twentieth-century European maps, old books, and artifacts from both world wars—has deepened his sense of how people connect with the tangible evidence of their past. That connection, between human story and object, brings another dimension to our work. He reminds me daily that history is not just aesthetic; it is human.

Together, we believe a home should tell a story—one of beauty, history, and belonging. Lineage Design Co. grew from that belief: a way to help others live meaningfully with history by preserving craftsmanship, celebrating provenance, and keeping the stories of the past alive in the homes of today.
