A silver serving spoon with intricate detailing, placed on a wooden surface with a bouquet of pink flowers partially visible in the background.

Rosalie Serving Spoon

Sourced in France

$325.00

A fine example of Rococo Revival silverwork, this serving spoon dates to the late 19th century. Sourced in France from a longtime collector of fine English silver and decorative arts near Paris, it reflects the artistry and refinement that defined the Victorian table.

The pattern—with its sweeping foliate scrolls, shell tip, and lion-like mask at the neck—embodies the opulent sensibility of John Gilbert & Co. (Sheffield), celebrated for electroplated nickel silver flatware inspired by mid-18th-century French silver. Originally crafted for display rather than daily use, pieces of this caliber were prized for their sculptural weight, depth of chasing, and refined asymmetry.

Beautifully proportioned and richly ornamented, this piece captures the theatrical grace of 19th-century European design—equally at home serving fruit or anchoring a refined tablescape.

Where do you source your antiques?

Each of our pieces is thoughtfully sourced from dealers, brocantes, and artisans across the United Kingdom and, on occasion, France. Every collection honors the craftsmanship, cultural traditions, and lineage of this storied region.

How do I care for my antique pieces?

As a best practice, we leave items as-is which lets you, the buyer, decide whether you want to keep their timeworn patina.

But, many of these antiques have traveled a long way before they reach your home. And, they have passed through a variety of climates which can be tough on these older pieces. To help them on their journey, we always treat wood furniture with a mild cleanser and conditioner intended for antiques. And, we will clean glass with a gentle glass cleaner. We do not polish metal pieces.

If you have questions about which products are safe to use (on any of our antiques), we will gladly provide recommendations.

Do you offer sourcing services for specific pieces?

If you're searching for a particular piece, please email Elizabeth at elizabeth@lineagedesignco.com with as much detail as you can provide. And someone will be in touch to make sure we help you find the perfect piece.
