A white ceramic wall plate with a black and white animal pattern, displayed on a wooden surface with green leaves in the background.

Renard Wall Plate

Sourced in France

$199.00

This black-transfer faience wall plate, titled Renard Surpris (“Startled Fox”), depicts a huntsman and his hounds catching sight of a fox as it breaks from cover—a familiar motif in 19th-century sporting art. A basketweave border frames the vignette in soft relief.

Made by Saint-Amand et Hamage in northern France, the piece reflects the enduring artistry of a manufactory whose roots trace to the early 18th century. By the late 1800s, Saint-Amand had become one of the country’s premier faience producers, celebrated for its finely printed pastoral and hunting scenes.

Glazed to a warm ivory tone and delicately crazed with age, this plate reflects the refined elegance of turn-of-the-century French ceramics—ideal for wall display or as part of a collection alongside its companion, Canard Wall Plate.

Where do you source your antiques?

Each of our pieces is thoughtfully sourced from dealers, brocantes, and artisans across the United Kingdom and, on occasion, France. Every collection honors the craftsmanship, cultural traditions, and lineage of this storied region.

How do I care for my antique pieces?

As a best practice, we leave items as-is which lets you, the buyer, decide whether you want to keep their timeworn patina.

But, many of these antiques have traveled a long way before they reach your home. And, they have passed through a variety of climates which can be tough on these older pieces. To help them on their journey, we always treat wood furniture with a mild cleanser and conditioner intended for antiques. And, we will clean glass with a gentle glass cleaner. We do not polish metal pieces.

If you have questions about which products are safe to use (on any of our antiques), we will gladly provide recommendations.

Do you offer sourcing services for specific pieces?

If you're searching for a particular piece, please email Elizabeth at elizabeth@lineagedesignco.com with as much detail as you can provide. And someone will be in touch to make sure we help you find the perfect piece.
